School will be closed on 19 September and other important information

Dear families

Welcome back to the new school year

As Chief Executive Officer of the Trust that runs the family of schools that your child attends, I wanted to briefly welcome you back at the start of the new academic year.

I have seen that our children have settled in very quickly and that they love being back in the classroom with their teachers and are enjoying learning.

It is my job to ensure that all of our children get the best possible education while they are with us at North Star Community Trust. The Trust is a family of schools including: Woodpecker Hall, Kingfisher Hall and Enfield Heights, our Primary Academies and Heron Hall, our Secondary Academy.

This is my first and last priority.

I hope you will all join with us in working together in partnership this year for the benefit of the children, so that we can support them when they are in the classroom and when they are at home.

Death of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II

We were all deeply saddened by the news of the death of Her Majesty, the Queen, last Thursday.

We join with the nation in grieving her passing and in celebrating her long life and the extraordinary service she gave to her country.

It is hard to believe that only a few months ago we were celebrating her Platinum Jubilee with our entire school community and singing ‘God Save the Queen’. Our teachers have been talking to the children about the events of last week and celebrating with them the amazing job that she did for our country during her 70 years as our Queen.

Schools will be closed on Monday, 19 September

It was announced on Saturday evening that there will be a Bank Holiday on the day of the Queen’s funeral and that all schools will be closed.

Our schools will re-open as usual on Tuesday, 20 September.

Great GCSE Results again at Heron Hall Academy

I wanted to let you all know that our secondary school celebrated another impressive set of GCSE results.

Our students are now in the top 10% nationally for the incredible progress they make from the ages of 11 to 16.

We also saw the first children who joined our nurseries in the year the Trust was founded in 2010 successfully pass their GCSE’s this Summer.

We are very proud of the fact that we can now provide your children with an education from 2 to 18, with our Sixth Form opening next year.

This gives every North Star child a chance to continue their success with us.

Heron Hall Opening evening - Tuesday, 11 October (5.30pm-7.30pm)

Please come along if you are a family of a Year 5 or 6 child and see what the school has to offer them.

We are very proud that so many of our primary children continue their success with us at Heron Hall Academy.

Meeting our families

I will shortly be visiting all of our schools to meet with families to find out what you think about your schools, the curriculum, the opportunities we provide the children, the support services we offer our families, and your views on what we might do in the future.

I look forward to talking to as many of you as possible.

As we say at North Star Community Trust: We are all Stronger Together.

Marino
