Kingfisher pupils demand action from the Home Secretary.

In school, our Year 5 pupils have been reading the book, “The Island”, which raises important issues relating to migration and child refugees.

The book has been described as a powerful graphic novel for all ages about how human beings respond to outsiders.

Headteacher, Matt Clifford has said that through thorough research and investigation the children had discovered something that really concerned them.

Pupils learnt that child refugees are not allowed to be reunited with their families once they arrive in the UK.

After discovering this information, our pupils decided to do something about this and be a force for positive change.

The children wrote persuasive letters to the Home Secretary, Priti Patel, and members of parliament in the hope of changing this unfair law.

Well done Year 5 for taking action and being a force for positive change!
