A Strong Next Step for Your Child
A smooth and confident transition
At Kingfisher Hall Academy, we work closely with Heron Hall Academy to help children move from primary to secondary school with confidence.
This includes transition visits, opportunities to meet staff and students, and activities that help children feel prepared for the next stage of their education.
A key part of this is our check-ins programme, which is unique within the borough. In Year 7, each term, our Headteacher or one of our senior leaders visits Heron Hall to see how those former Kingfisher children are settling in and progressing.
This has been a very popular initiative and helps us stay connected with children during their first year at secondary school.
A safe, inclusive and supportive school
Heron Hall Academy is a school where children are known, supported and encouraged to do well.
The school places strong importance on children’s wellbeing, confidence and sense of belonging. There is a clear focus on creating a safe, calm and inclusive environment where children can learn, grow and feel supported.
Families want to know that their child will be looked after as well as challenged, and this is an important part of what Heron Hall provides.
High expectations and strong outcomes
Heron Hall Academy has high expectations for all children and a strong focus on helping them achieve their best.
Teaching is ambitious and well planned, and children are encouraged to work hard, take pride in their learning and develop confidence and independence.
The school has strong GCSE results and a clear commitment to helping children succeed both academically and personally.
Academy PLUS and wider opportunities
Alongside lessons, Heron Hall Academy offers children a wide range of opportunities through Academy PLUS.
This helps children develop their interests, discover new strengths and take part in activities beyond the classroom. These wider experiences help build confidence, develop character and make school life richer and more enjoyable.
Heron Hall aims to help young people succeed not only in their studies, but also as confident, well-rounded individuals.
Education from Year 7 to Year 13
One of the strengths of Heron Hall Academy is that it gives families the opportunity to choose a school that supports children right through from Year 7 to Year 13.
The school has a successful and thriving Sixth Form, where students continue their education in an ambitious and supportive environment.
Students go on to a range of positive next steps, including university, apprenticeships and employment. For families, this means Heron Hall can offer not just a strong secondary education, but a clear pathway through to the end of sixth form.
What parents tell us
Parents often tell us:
• their children settle in quickly and feel confident at school
• they value the support provided in Year 7
