Our Approach to Teaching

  /  Our Approach to Teaching

Clear and Structured Learning

Lessons are calm, focused and easy to follow. Teachers explain new learning clearly and check that children understand before moving on. Children are given time to practise and use what they have learned. This helps children feel confident and secure in their learning.

A Strong Focus on Reading

Reading is at the heart of our curriculum.

Children learn to read through a structured phonics programme in the early years and Key Stage 1. As they grow, they read a wide range of books to develop understanding and enjoyment.

We encourage all children to read regularly at school and at home.

Supporting Every Child

We support every child to succeed.

Teachers adapt their teaching to meet different needs. This may include giving extra help, providing additional challenge or supporting children to build confidence.

We want all children to feel included and able to take part in learning.

Positive Classrooms

We create calm and respectful classrooms where children feel safe.

Clear routines and expectations help children know what to do and allow lessons to run smoothly. This helps pupils focus and behave well.

Checking Progress

Teachers regularly check how well children understand their learning.

This helps us identify any gaps, support children quickly and plan next steps so that every child continues to make progress.

Working With Families

We believe children do best when schools and families work together.

We keep parents informed and provide simple guidance so you can support your child’s learning at home.

We are proud to work with families from many different backgrounds and value the languages and cultures they bring to our school.
